Review Round Ups: The Ordinary, St.Ives,Milk Makeup

This weeks weekly round up reviews features a few fan favorite brands.

The Ordinary’s Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA

  • This was my first THE ORDINARY product to ever try, and while I have since moved on to try (and love) other THE ORIDINARY products, for me, this serum unfortunately did not work for me at all. I tried it first with a small patch test on my chin and had a horrible allergic reaction to it so I gave it a few weeks and tried it again, this time switching out some of my products that I knew agreed with my skin. The directions say to use it both AM and EVE as apart of your skincare regime but unfortunately for me this just did NOT want to agree with my skin no matter how often I tried(which was a few times). Clearly this just did NOT mix well with my skin type(oily/acne prone), so I had to toss this.

St. Ive’s Yaaas Face Mist in Happy Grapefruit, Zing! Face Mist in Energizing Orange and Ohmmmm Face Mist in Relaxing Lavender

-I was a huge St. Ive’s fan growing up(I, like everyone else loved their face scrubs), so when I saw that they came out with these face mists, I snagged all three and gave them a whirl.

The directions say to use them as a misting spray after makeup or on the go through out the day but personally I used these a bit differently.

I loved to use the Grapefruit as a midday pick up.

The Orange mist was a perfect way to start my morning.

The lavender mist was the last step in my nighttime routine right before I wound down for bed and would always set the tone for a peaceful night’s sleep.

Overall I loved using these mists and would recommend giving them a try and getting creative with how you use them!

MILK Makeup Hydro Grip Setting & Refreshing Spray

-Okay, so I’m no stranger to MILK makeup products. When I saw that they came out with this (now viral/trending) setting spray, I like everyone else was influenced by social media and decided to give it a try. I played it safe and got the travel sized one and to be completely honest… im so glad I did because me and this setting spray were just not vibing the way I wanted to.

I have oily/acne prone skin and for me this setting spray did not set my makeup at all. The directions say to shake well and set face as usual. This is not my first rodeo and I have gone THROUGH it when trying to find the right setting spray to keep my makeup in place and my face matte and in tact. HOWEVER, this spray just left me oily—literally. It didnt matter how much I shook it or how little or much I sprayed! I sooo wanted to love this setting spray like the rest of the influencer girlies but for me—it just didn’t give what I wanted and needed so this is a pass for me. I do however think if you’re on the dry side and love that refreshed glow and feel to your makeup this is PERFECT for ya, but for me—Hydro Grip is a dripπŸ‘ŽπŸΎ

TOM FORD BEAUTY Lipstick Review! (Honest Thoughts+Photos, etc.)

Hi, beauties!!! I hope you all are having a positive and productive week! Today I am back (as promised) with my full review and thoughts on the Tom Ford Beauty Lipstick I got the opportunity to try out complimentary of Influenster.

When I first received this box, I was very excited! It's not every day you get to try out a designer brand's product(as I'm gonna be painfully honest, the hefty price point can sometimes be a deterrent), and so when I received my box I couldn't wait to pop it open.

Sufficed to say, at first glance, I was impressed. The black and gold packaging and design of the lipstick not only looked luxe, but the pretty pinky nude was calling my name! And so, after placing it on my vanity to admire its beauty(and to take a social media pic or few), it came time for me to test out this luxurious (and expensive) lipstick.

Below you will find my honest review/experience with using this gaw-jess lipstick.

 Tom Ford Beauty Lipstick(Casablanca) Review

πŸ’„The packaging is FAB —  luxe black and gold design and “TF” signature stamped into the top( the TF logo did rub off though after applying a few times πŸ‘ŽπŸΎ)

πŸ’„Color & Performance- Casablanca is a pretty, romantic, pinkish nude. I like that the color is nice and opaque— one coat was enough. The color payoff is πŸ‘πŸΎ. It can be used alone or with other colors and formulas(stains, mattes, liquid, etc.) I used Casablanca by itself and while it applied beautifully, I used it again with another shade/formula and it blended really nicely as well.

πŸ’„ NOT transfer-proof at all—this is a CLASSIC lipstick (formula) so if you’re looking for something matte or something you apply in the morning and won’t have to touch up throughout the day— this AIN’T it!

πŸ’‹Final Thoughts: This lipstick feels really good on the lips-it’s moisturizing & gives great color(and has a nice variety of shades). If you’re looking for a classic lipstick, this would be great for you. However, if you want something that’s a bit more low maintenance(don’t have to reapply  or touch up throughout the day, etc.) I would pass.

And so there you have it beauties. To read my full review on Influenster you can click HERE. To purchase click HERE. Let me know in the comments if you have tried this lipstick and your thoughts.

πŸ–€Lily Lashes:

πŸ’„Lashes: LONG, Voluminous & Glamorous! Feels heavy  AF on your eye after a while. Not cheap but worth the $.

πŸ’„Mascara: Just OKAY. Gives some volume and some length. Comparable to a drugstore mascara. Good for every day. Can FLAKE. Don’t get this mascara in your eye cause it’ll irritate it.

πŸ’„Lily Lashes Glue: Easy. Convenient. You’ll need more than one coat for lashes to stick.

πŸ–€Rael Beauty:

πŸ§–πŸΎ‍♀️Antioxidant Serum +  Snowball Melt: Cute packaging. Light formula—feels like nothing is on the skin. A good amount of product(lasts a while). No scent(a plus for me).

πŸ’„Bite Beauty:

πŸ’„ Lip Crayon: LOTS OF COLORS TO CHOOSE FROM(Variety). Nicely pigmented. NOT transfer-proof. Moisturizing/Non-drying. Convenient packaging.

πŸ–€Kiss/Impress Nails:

πŸ’…πŸΎImpress  Nails(3)+ Jelly Nails(1) : Prefer the Jelly Nails. Couture nails pop off way too easily(with extra glue and adhesive—no lie I lost a nail on the bus πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ). Nail sizes are too narrow(if you have fatter nail beds you’ll have some TROUBLE finding nail sizes that fit!)

πŸ–€Bare Minerals:

πŸ§–πŸΎ‍♀️Herb Serum: REALLY GOOD INGREDIENTS.

Nice packaging. Not harsh. My kinda serum.

πŸ–€RMS BEAUTY:

πŸ’„ Radiance Base: Can get messy & go 0 to 100 real quick. Is a “ glow-from-within” vs. a glittery high shine liquid highlighter. BEAUTIFUL COLOR!!

πŸ–€Revlon:

πŸ’„ Foundation: LOVED the packaging. Nice everyday foundation. Will peak through if you have hyperpigmentation. NOT oily girl friendly(but I liked it anyway lol). Not enough product(had less than the standard ounce of product πŸ€”)

πŸ’„Highlighter: Beautifully designed. Nice color options. Buildable.

πŸ’„ Primer: Blurred the skin. A nice base before makeup. Can stand alone if you have good skin.

🌸Spring Forward:

🧴Gold Bond Neck & Chest Cream: Smells so good. Gold Bond can do no wrong IMO

πŸͺSmashmellow: As a sweet tooth queen... I was underwhelmed

🧼LemiShine: Did its job.

*Honorable Mention: NEW! LancΓ΄me Idole parfum (which, I didn't have to review BUT I loved it so much I got it for Christmas!)

And finally,  the Tom Ford Lipstick(review soon come πŸ˜‰).

I can’t wait to see what 2021 has in-store! I’m so excited to share new content and of course, more reviews with you all and I'm so grateful to Influenster and all of the wonderful companies I got to try products from last year!

HUGE MAKEUP HAUL!! [Hard Candy, Too Faced, Sephora + more]

Hi, my beauties! Happy New Year! Can you believe we have been in a new year for a full week already?!

2020 was definitely a tough one for so many of us,
but the important thing is to remember is that we made it through and we are here to see another day!

I know for me personally, there were definitely some rough days, but I’m grateful and thankful to see another year, grow and tackle some new goals!

For today’s post, I wanted to show you all what I picked up recently from a collective makeup haul. I  know online shopping was SUPER POPULAR last year but fortunately, toward the end of the year, I was able to get out to the stores, browse and pick up tons of new things to try!!

Of course, with the pandemic, shopping for makeup is a bit different now(bye-bye testers), but I was still able to haul quite a bit and see what was out there!

*Pro Tip: DO YOUR RESEARCH! If you know you’re on the hunt for a new foundation, make sure you do your research on Google, YouTube, and social media first so you have an idea of what’s in stores. Doing this lessens the chance of error and the possible hassle of having to do a return/exchange down the line.

In the midst of my holiday shopping, I was able to snag quite a few goodies from Hard Candy which is sold exclusively at Walmart and on their website. I wanted to haul products that I can’t usually find at my local drugstore and Hard Candy has been a brand fav for years!
This serum was on clearance for only $1!!!
Since luminizers/highlighters are one of my favorite products, I had to pick up this one to try!
This glitter primer, eyeshadow primer and eye treatment will definitely come in handy.
Out of everything I picked up from my Hard Candy haul, I am most excited about trying these dual-ended eyeshadow sticks!
I'm interested to see how this toner, primer, and setting spray will compare to what I currently use now.

Bonus Buy: As a HUGE masker(check out my masking routine and favorite masks), I had to pick up these new body masks by Freeman Beauty!

Sephora was also having an AMAZING sale so I hauled a bit from there as well.

Too Faced Cosmetics REALLY came through this year. I picked up a highlighter, mini setting powder, primer, concealer, and lip stain for a huge discount!
These limited edition eyeshadow palettes were only $5-7!

I'm no stranger to Bite Beauty's lip products(read my review on their NEW lip crayons HERE), so when I saw they had these mini lip crayons on sale, I HAD to get them!

That's everything from my holiday makeup haul!
Let me know in the comments what you want to see me try/review first and if you've gotten any new makeup to try!

My Masking Routine: My Road To Clear Skin

Hello Glammies!!

For today’s post, I’m back to chat a bit more about skincare. As you may or may not know, earlier in the year, I shared that this year I wanted to really work on having healthy-looking, clear, luminous skin. For more on my skincare journey so far, you can check it out HERE

And so while I’m on this journey to healthier skin, I wanted to take you all along for the ride in a series of posts where I share with you my progress, routines, and what I’m doing to get to (and maintain) my goal.
Let's Be Friends:

Serious Business Inquiries: Click HERE.

To kick things off with the series, today I wanted to come to you all with My Masking Routine. Over the past year or so I’ve really made it a point to up my masking game. In the past, I would do a weekly sheet mask or cream mask about every two weeks. And while that routine wasn’t bad, because I really want to work on my skin and improving its overall health, this year I decided that I would really work on upping my masking routine and personalizing it so that way my skin is really reaping all of the benefits.

While daily, and nightly skincare routines (more on that in a later post) are incredibly important when it comes to achieving clear skin, masking is actually just as important—especially when it comes to maintaining good skin.

Below I’ve outlined my old masking routine, changes I’ve made to my new masking routine, and some of my new favorite masking products.

Old Routine Step 1
Using one type of mask: Last year, sheet masks were one of the biggest skincare trends of the year. Everywhere you looked you saw a different type of sheet mask that catered to almost everything. While I was totally obsessed with sheet masks and find that they are super convenient and easy to use, I noticed that my skin wasn’t really benefiting from them the way they should.

New Routine Step 1
Using different types of masks/Multi-masking: Because I really want to get the most out of my masks now, I’ve customized my masking routine by using different types of masks on targeted areas of my face. I don’t know about you but sooo many different factors(environment, diet & lifestyle, hormonal), affect my skin on a daily basis. I literally will have days where I’m dry in my t-zone but oily everywhere else, or I’ll have a random breakout or hyperpigmentation, and so on and so forth. I’m learning that my skin basically has a mind of its own and the best way to get the most of masking is to cater to each of my skincare concerns specifically(see photo below). It may seem a bit tedious and more expensive to multi-mask at first but, once you get the hang of it, you’ll be able to better customize your masking routine and to use masks that you know for sure will benefit you in the long run.

Old Routine Step 2
Using your fingers: Considering the overall timing and vibe of what’s going on right now in the world, the idea of using your hands and fingers to touch your face sounds pretty cringe, but believe it or not, up until a few years ago that was how I would apply/wash off my masks — which is a HUGE NO-NO!

New Routine Step 2
Using masking accessories: If you’re not careful and thoroughly clean your hands before you apply your mask and again before you use your hands to wash your mask off, you can actually wind up doing more damage(and putting more bacteria on your face). That’s why a few years ago I invested in a mask brush. For just a few dollars, you can save yourself from a future breakout or worse! If you can’t get your hands on a mask brush, a great alternative is a foundation brush(just be sure to thoroughly clean it afterward!). Another upgrade I made was investing in a towel to use specifically for rinsing my mask off. Using a makeup remover towel that’s designed specifically for your face will help keep lurking bacteria at bay and leave your face squeaky clean as well. Just remember to wash it thoroughly after each use.

Old Routine Step 3
Using a mask that does nothing for your skin: As I said before, in the past when it came time for my bi-weekly mask I would usually use the same type of mask week after week until I noticed after some time that my skin was either not reacting to it at all, or I would have the same problems or issues regardless.

New Routine Step 3
Trying different masks to see what works for you: Last year, when I saw how popular the sheet mask trend was rising I found that the more types of masks I tried, the more I was able to learn that certain parts of my face/skin require different things. I would literally go out to the drugstores and beauty supply stores and try all different types of sheet masks. While my skin type, for the most part, is oily/acne-prone, I found that some days my skin needed different things that my “skin type mask” did not offer. I say all this to  say, if you really want to improve your masking routine and get the most out of masking, try not to get caught up in your skin type. Instead, watch and study your skin and listen to it/see what it needs depending on the day/week. Experiment and step outside the face mask box—you might be surprised with what you find.

Old Routine Step 4
Masking occasionally: For me in the past, masking was more or less something I did occasionally when I either was bored, wanted to pamper myself or when I remembered to actually do/had some free time.

New Routine Step 4
Sticking to a strict masking schedule: Now that I’m more focused on working on my skin, masking has become more of a routine. Now I’ve set it up to where I now allot time every week to do my masking routine(just as I would do my morning and night routine). By making it apart of my routine it’s become second nature and has become apart of my normal skincare.

Old Routine Step 5
Doing the bare minimum: In the past, I would look at masking as more of a luxury or something that’s just for fun. I didn’t really go all out or take the time to really look into masking because I didn’t look at it as vital skincare.

New Routine Step 5
Going the extra mile: Now, do I not only see the importance of proper masking, but I also find that the more effort you put into it, the more you’re likely to really benefit and see results. If I’m using a sheet mask, I like to use a cool jade roller to massage my skin. Not only does a jade roller help decrease puffiness, but there’s also a slew of other anti-aging and skin benefits. I also like to use targeted lip and eye masks as well(multi-sheet masking).

I’m hoping by switching up my masking routine and making these subtle yet important changes, my skin will really start to not only look healthy but feel healthy too.

Here are some photos as well as purchasing info on some of my go-to masks and masking accessories I mentioned above.

Mutli-masking has been my go-to technique lately when I'm masking. These mask sticks are SUPER easy to use, affordable and only take 5 MINUTES!!

This is the e.l.f. mask brush I use to apply some of my masks. If you can't get your hands on a mask brush, a flat foundation brush is another great option.

These makeup remover towels are also great for when you want to take off your face masks. They take off everything so easily!

When I was trying out all different types of masks, Freeman's Beauty masks were some of my favs! I LOVE how affordable they are and the HUGE variety they have!

I really like to go the extra mile with my masking and so using eye masks, lip masks, and a face roller* really help me get the most out of my masking routine.
*The face roller I use was currently out of stock where I purchased mine from but the one linked is a great alternative!

Let me know in the comments what your masking routine is or what some of your favorite masking products are.

Happy Masking!!
